Rwanda TVET Board holds an Orientation meeting on the Implementation of RPL Guidelines

On 25th April, at Rwanda TVET Board a meeting gathered RTB staff and training institutions that will implement the Recognition of Prior Learning under the SDF framework. The meeting was convened by RTB to discuss the implementation modalities of RPL focussing on the preparatory activities that they all called to do.

The meeting brought together six institutions that signed contracts to lead the RPL implementation process for the SDF III under PSGYE. These institutions are:

  • East African University
  • Wood Value Chain
  • IPRC Kigali
  • STECOMA
  • Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU)
  • Hairdressers and Allied Workers Union (HAWU)

Mrs. Germaine MUDAHOGORA, the Specialist in charge of Workplace Learning at RTB, explained to participants the objectives of RPL and the key elements of the RPL guidelines that will guide its implementation. The meeting discussed the required assessment tools, how and when they will be developed, the process for selecting the workers to be assessed, and the communication needed at each stage of the implementation.

The representatives from all the six institutions shared their previous experiences and confirmed their readiness to implement RPL.

About

The most preferable training approach to be used by applying company is Company based training (On job training) and can identify local or international experts/training provider to facilitate the training, but the SDF Secretariat may assist if needed.
