Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) hosts the World Bank Implementation Support Mission

In line with the implementation of the Rwanda Priority Skills for Growth and Youth Empowerment Program (PSGYE), the Ministry of Education and other implementing entities hosted the World Bank team from March 24 to 28 as part of their Implementation Support Mission.

Today, 27 March 2025, the Rwanda TVET Board hosted the World Bank team to discuss the progress of the Skills Development Fund (SDF) and other activities under the PSGYE being implemented by the Rwanda TVET Board.

The meeting was chaired by Dipl.-Ing. Paul UMUKUNZI, Director General of the Rwanda TVET Board, and Mrs. Ruth Charo, Senior Education Specialist at the World Bank. Other participants from the World Bank included Lillian Mutesi (Education Specialist) and Jorgen Billetoft (Senior Labor Markets Consultant). On the RTB side, participants included Uwimana Eugene (Program Manager – Skills Development), Solange Uwamahoro (Head of Department), Rutagambwa Geofrey (Advisor to the Director General), and Shema Fred (SPIU Coordinator).

 

The Director General welcomed the World Bank mission and reiterated RTB’s commitment to achieving the PSGE targets. Following the welcome remarks by the DG of RTB, a presentation was delivered on the implementation progress of DLI 1 (DLR 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3) and DLI 2 (DLR 2.5).

 

The World Bank team commended the progress made in achieving the first-year targets of building the capacity of 15,000 Rwandan youth through short-term technical and vocational training, with a particular focus on those in the NEET category.

The most preferable training approach to be used by applying company is Company based training (On job training) and can identify local or international experts/training provider to facilitate the training, but the SDF Secretariat may assist if needed.
